Atlantic City International Airport is now a joint civilian and military airfield and home to the Atlantic City Air National Guard Base. It is a joint civil-military airport 16 km northwest of Atlantic City, New Jersey, in Egg Harbor Township, the Pomona section of Galloway Township and in Hamilton Township. Originally built in 1942 as a naval air station. It was also a designated alternative landing site for the Space Shuttle.
