William P. Hobby Airport is an international airport in Houston, Texas, 11 km from downtown Houston. Once named after aviator Howard Hughes, HOUston’s oldest commercial airport was renamed in 1967 to honor former Texas governor William P. Hobby. After the opening of Intercontinental, Hobby became a secondary airport for domestic airline service as well as a regional center for corporate and private aviation.
