Tribhuvan International Airport is an international airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. The airport is about six kilometres from the city centre, in the Kathmandu valley. Opened as an airfield in 1949, Tribhuvan International is named after Tribhuwan Bir Bikram Shah, former King of Nepal. Its airport code comes from its home city of KaThMandu.
