Chinggis Khaan International Airport serving Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, located 18 km southwest of the capital. It is the largest international air facility in the country. Opened in 1957 as Buyant-Ukhaa Airport, Chinggis Khaan International was renamed in 2005 after Genghis Khan and in honor of the Mongolian state’s 800th anniversary. Its airport code comes from its home city of ULaaNbaatar.
