Edmonton International Airport is the primary air passenger and air cargo facility in the Edmonton region of the Canadian province of Alberta. It is a hub facility for Northern Alberta and Northern Canada. It is Canada's largest major airport by total land area, the 5th busiest airport by passenger traffic and by aircraft movements. With a few exceptions, airport codes starting with ‘Y’ designate Canadian airports. Edmonton International’s code reflects the city’s military history and comes from the nearby Canadian Forces Base, also called Edmonton Garrison.
