McCarran International Airport is the primary commercial airport serving the Las Vegas Valley, a major metropolitan area in the U.S. state of Nevada. It is located in Paradise, about 8 km south of downtown Las Vegas. Formerly called Alamo Field, McCarron Airport was renamed in 1948 after Pat McCarran, a senator and author of the Civil Aeronautics Act. Its airport code honors its home in LAS Vegas.
